Project sponsor must be a non-profit 501(c)(3) or government agency.
The project must meet a real need at the agency or school.
Projects to benefit individuals (such as home repair for an elderly or low income resident) must be submitted by a caseworker through a sponsoring agency such as AHIP or JABA.
The project can be completed in 4-8 hours on the Day of Caring.
Volunteers must find measurable satisfaction or accomplishment.
The sponsoring agency or school must be able to show they have insurance that covers volunteers during the Day of Caring.
Supplies and materials are identified and a plan is in place to secure items. (Occasionally, but in rare instances, the volunteer team or other sponsor may be able to provide supplies; however, it is up to the agency to seek those resources.)
A trusted and responsible person will plan and oversee each project, meaning that an agency representative is assigned as Project Coordinator, will communicate as needed with the volunteer team, and will be present on the Day of Caring.
Please review the Day of Caring Agency Manual for important information that you will need when planning your Day of Caring project.
