The United Way Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring is an incredible opportunity to tackle large and small projects at your agency or school. You might use a volunteer team to interact with your clients or students, paint or do repair work, or landscape your agencies' grounds. Use your imagination and the resources on this web site to help you develop creative, worthwhile projects that volunteers will enjoy.

There is no limit to what volunteers can do. In the past, skilled volunteers have re-roofed houses, rebuilt decks, and painted agency walls. Volunteers also enjoy working directly with clients: going on picnics, picking apples, reading to children, dancing with seniors, decorating pottery, and more! Others enjoy planting flowers, trimming bushes and trees, or weeding gardens.

If you can dream it, it's very possible that someone will do it! Volunteer Teams choose their own projects, which results in successful matches of skills and needs. Think back to all those times you or your staff said, "I wish we had someone to..."

If you need some help dreaming up projects, check out the list of project types. If you still need more ideas, visit our list of successful projects from last year, or our photo gallery for ideas. Or call the Volunteer Center to discuss your ideas at 972-1705.
