"The
best part of the Day of Caring was seeing the children's faces
when they saw the map of the United States being painted on the
playground blacktop. The children were pointing and naming the
states. Volunteering our time that morning made a difference for
these children. There is no better feeling." |

Volunteers from the
UVA Audit Department painted a mural at Red Hill
Elementary School. The tree is called the "ComplimenTree"
They will
use it to give compliments to students, staff, parents, etc. During
the fall,
when a compliment is given, the giver can write the specific compliment
on a cut out of a Fall Leaf, then the Compliment will be attached to
the
tree. Later, those compliment leaves will be removed and new compliments,
icicles will be used in the winter months, followed by blossoms of some
kind in the spring, etc.
The Thank You Note that UVA Audit Department received from the
students at Red Hill Elementary School:

UVA Health
System volunteers painted portraits of famous people in history
along the hallway at Scottsville Elementary School.
The murals correspond
with the people students are studying about for the SOL's.
