Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women employees sorted and cleaned
toys for the Happy Face Christmas Party (a program of the Fluvanna Christian
Services Society
). They repaired bikes and provided paint touch-ups. Toys
and bicycles are given to needy children of Fluvanna County during the holidays.

"If all projects went as well as this one, you couldn't find enough projects for all the volunteers that you would have. Our hosts (Fluvanna Christian Services Society) were well organized, helpful and made it fun. Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women is currently conducting a toy drive based on this project to provide toys/gifts for older children (a need brought to our attention during our project). Group members are also planning to assist the organization in distributing the toys later in the year."
-Rick Collins, Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women

"Each year we say the group couldn't have done a better job. The group from the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women was unbelievable. Otis Carpenter fashioined a bike guard from a plastic tray and did a wonderful job on the bicycles. All the folks did a terrific job. We are so grateful to them. It will truly give us a headstart on the upcoming toy drive.

We appreciate everyone at the United Way that makes this program possible."
-Joan Sola, Fluvanna Christian Services Society

Real Estate III volunteers accomplished many needed tasks at a disabled,
elderly women's home in Charlottesville - a client of the Charlottesville
Weed & Seed
program. They cleaned her gutters, removed overgrown
vines and weeds, installed a new shed, rearranged her furniture, installed
flood lights for safety and even purchased her a new mattress.

Volunteers from Piedmont Virginia Community College and Downer
Realty
helped prepare International Rescue Committee for their move
at the end of September. They took down pictures, posters, wall hangings
and bulletin boards from the walls; cleaned out closets; took things to the
recycling center, Goodwill, etc; packed up files and other supplies; and
delivered household goods to client homes.

Volunteers from the City of Charlottesville helped out the City's
Environmental Office
apply a round decal to many of the stormdrains
in the City, which reads "DON'T POLLUTE - FLOWS TO WATERWAYS."
These decals will eventually be added to all stormdrains. Other volunteers
from GE Fanuc helped to clean up the waterways by pulling trash and
large items out of Moore's Creek for City Parks and Grounds. The pile
they collected can be seen in the white truck.

Volunteers from UVA-Building Services returned for one of their regular
Day of Caring projects at the Senior Center. They cleaned windows inside
and out, including those on the second floor (thanks to UVA's cherry picker!).
