Each year nonprofit agencies and public schools submit a variety of projects for completion during the United Way Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring. Click on the thumbnail images to see the full sized images.

Human Service

  • Human service projects may include reading to children, playing bingo with elderly clients, eating lunch with students, tutoring math, or painting pottery with handicap adults


Landscaping

  • Landscaping Projects may include planting bulbs, trimming trees, planting and weeding flowerbeds, mulching playgrounds or building trails.


Construction

  • Construction Projects may include building a fence, a wheelchair accessible play area, reconstructing a deteriorated porch, rebuilding a deck, or preparing a house for renovation.

Office/Organizing/Cleaning

  • Clerical Projects may include preparing a mailing; reviewing, filing and shredding old documents; reinforcing school library books; sorting donated clothes or cleaning donated toys.


Painting

  • Painting projects may include painting a map of the United States on a school blacktop, an elderly person's home, or brighten up an agency's interior walls.

Arts and Crafts

  • Creative projects may include painting a mural on a school cafeteria wall, repainting museum exhibits, sewing sequins on costumes, making bright mobiles to decorate an Alzheimer's unit, or leading art activities with kids.
